He was answered: Messenger of Allah, he who is slain in the cause of Allah is a martyr. He said: Then there will be few martyrs among my people. He was asked: Messenger of Allah, who is then a martyr? He answered: He who is slain in the cause of Allah is a martyr, he who dies in the cause of Allah is a martyr, he who dies of the plague is a martyr, he who dies of cholera is a martyr, he who dies of drowning is a martyr (Muslim).
